PVA

What is PVA?

"PVA" stands for polyvinyl acetate, more commonly known as white glue. PVA primers are the best type to use on new drywall surfaces. The primer seals areas with joint compound as well as areas covered only by the paper face of the drywall, so the surface becomes uniformly porous. This allows the final paint to dry with an even sheen. Without the primer, some areas of the wall would absorb more resin from the paint, resulting in a surface with shiny patches.
